Apple Annie's

For a playdate on Monday, we went down to Apple Annie's orchard and pumpkin patch with Connor's friend Scott and his parents. It was a lovely little place with all sorts of produce and homemade goods. We hoped to pick apples but they had just picked the last of them over the weekend. Thankfully you could still buy them and eat them right away (organically grown), which Connor did in the car.

Here's Connor helping to pick out the apples and putting them in the bag to buy them.

Here's an old time scale that the boys took a great interest in. They were trying to weigh themselves but got a little too rough so we had to get them off.
At the first pumpkin Connor saw he said "I want this one mommy!" I convinced him to look around a little more before we bought one. Those pumpkins were grown for size but Connor wanted a little pumpkin. Do you know how hard it is to find a fully ripe little pumpkin? Very, but we finally picked one from the field.
When we got home, Connor immediately drew a face on his pumpkin. He wanted to carve it but I told him we needed to wait or else it would be mushy before Halloween. It's been hard to convince him of that. Every few days he'll say it's Halloween and that we'd better cut our pumpkin.

The boys loved playing in the display of the already picked pumpkins.
We decided to get a cart and head out to the field to find our own pumpkins. Aren't the boys so cute in the wagon?

Lovely sunflowers and a rusty old tractor. I love the contrast.

Gorgeous sunflower patch.
They do a corn maze here. This ones' just for kids.
And he's off! --Connor was our guide and did a great job getting us through! I think it's all those Dora videos with the map and choosing which way to go that helped him.
Hanging out on the hay bales used to give hay rides on the weekends.

We sure had a great day. We love fall!!
